I was contemplating writing software to help me run this list off my
Delphi account. I can hardly imagine having run the list like that over
the past few months had Ratman never offered use of his server. But now,
instead, I have 15 months of experience using majordomo; 'nuff said.

That equation only holds true if you have 100 subscribers and each posted
15 messages a day. As you said, that's 1500 posts a day. Fortunately,
the Sonic list was never that busy. I don't know of any list that is.

With pine and shell scripts, it would not be too burdensome for me to run
the list off my shell account. And I'm used to expending the daily time
required to do it, and I'm used to handling the daily dose of bounces.

That's true, though majordomo can become troublesome when you get past
500 or so users on a list. But let's leave that for the majordomo-users
mailing list.
