Speaking as the "someone" who theoretically nailed down the question of
Sally's species in the FAQ File, I've come to accept that the "Sally is
a fox" crowd simply will not yield.

As for Antoine, you might want to check out the two latest Teitelbaum
novellas [_Fortress of Fear_ and _Friend or Foe?_]. While Teitelbaum
manages to get the hang of Sonic's argot to a greater degree, Antoine is
NOT reduced to comedy relief with a funny accent. He seems to want to
emerge as a character in his own right, and a sympathetic character at
that.
