Basically sound, Chris. I've been working on a variation of the theory
myself, one that also explains a) why nobody else seems to be affected
by the rings the way Sonic is; and b) how the ring generator got to the
bottom of the pool at Knothole in the first place. Watch for the
explanation in my next fanfic contribution, "Capture The Flag," which
I'll try to finish some time in July.
