Not aging is an ancient convention in the comics. It makes the
characters easier to draw when you don't have to change the models.
There have been exceptions [strips such as "Gasoline Alley" and "For
Better Or For Worse" but they're in the minority.

Let's just say that a lot happens to these characters in the course of a
year and that they therefore lead Very Full Lives ;-).
