Yeah, that works so much better, and how that expository line made it
through no less than three revisions - one by the story editor himself - makes
you wonder what their mental picture of the audience was. Here's a possible
explanation:. that ep was penned by Glenn Leopold, and Glenn *is* the story editor..

(He also was reportedly responsible for the offending MASA groundcrew lines
  in "Destructive Nature" while exercising his story editor powers over someone
  else's script. It's not evil or anything, just a bit annoying).
