I checked it again last night, watched it a half doezen times and freezed
framed through it. There is no way in the universe it can be hand animated.
Portions of the "tunnel" such as the top look like they might be a photograph
or video of, as weird as this may sound, clouds over the ocean as seen from
space. It might also be a computer generated image, or *maybe* a painting
(Which I guess would mean hand drawn.) As to how the effect was made, I don't
know. Perhaps it was computer manipulation of the image, whatever it was, but
it might have been an extreme lensing techinique. It reminds me a lot of the
end of 2001. I don't think that used computers, so a low tech approach isn't
out of the question.
Oh, and there were no credits for computer graphics, but seeing as how
there weren't any credits of any type for other type of FX, then CG still isn't
ruled out.
Could somebody please offer some opinions and/or knowhow to this
discussion? I'd really like to know how it was done.
